The broadbandshow commissioning fund was set up to provide companies in the South West  working in the tourism, aerospace and digital technology/media industries, with an opportunity to develop broadband content and applications. Two Requests for Proposals were posted in 2002/3 generating over ninety applications from businesses across the South West. SMEs (small to medium-sized enterprises) were invited to apply for grants to develop new applications from which interactive demonstrations were created, highlighting the practical and commercial benefits of broadband connectivity. The final Request for Proposal has now closed and no new submissions will be sought.
