There are four main types of broadband connection - telephone wires, cable, satellite and wireless - each running at least 10 times faster than a standard 56 kbps dial-up modem. Your choice of connection should be dictated by the quantity of data you intend to send and receive, but it's restricted by your location.
Broadband telephone and cable currently enjoy large market shares, scoring highly on availability and pricing. However they are location specific. Satellite is in many respects the last option. However, it does offer blanket coverage across the region and wireless is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative.
